***FROM NOW ON WE WILL REVIEW ALL STANDARDS AND CHALLENGE OURSELVES WITH SOME BEGINNING 4th GRADE MATH STRATEGIES! We will continue this until the end of the year.
April 17th- 21st
REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW!!!
*Reviewing all standards for FSA next week
April 3rd- April 7th
*Finishing up time this week
*We will now review all third grade Math standards and continue looking at a variety of problems to prepare for math FSA.
*Students must show their work in class, or I will send home for them to show their work for homework.
March 20th- March 24th
* Telling Time
*measuring time intervals
*Using different strategies to find starting and ending times
* word problems (using time intervals)
February 27th- March 3rd
*Measurement (measuring to the nearest 1/2 and 1/4 inch
*Plot Measurement data on a line plot to show our collection of measurements taken
*Mass and Volume word problems will be solved. Students must read a word problem about mass and volume, but decide what operation needs to be performed to solve.
February 20th- February 24th
*Measurement
*Measuring Mass and Volume
February 13th- February 17th
*Review Fractions Assessment
*Review math standards on DE
* VOLUME
February 6th- February 10th
*Continue with Fractions and Review for Test on Friday
*Review other skills we have learned this year in centers
January 30th- February 3rd
* Comparing fractions
*Fractions greater than one
January 23rd-January 30th
* Introduce equal shares using fractions
****Example: how to share with six people if you only have two cookies
*equivalent fractions and comparing fractions is our main focus this week
January 16th- January 20th
*Partition shapes into equal parts
*Identify the fraction of the shaded part
*Fraction on number lines
We are studying fractions. We are using pictorial models and also learning how to input fractions on a number line. PLEASE continue mastering multiplication and division at home to increase fluency. This is super important
January 9th- January 13th
*Attributes of polygons
*Begin Fractions on Wednesday
December 12th- 16th
*Graphing-- bar graphs and line plots
*Introduce Geometry
December 5th- December 9th

October 10th- October 14th
*Due to school being out two days last week, we will continue last week’s plans. We have WOW Wednesday this week, so there will only be three full days of instruction this week. Therefore, we will make up last week.
October 3rd- October 7th
-Working with Commutative property in Multiplication using arrays and equal groups. (Example: 7x3 = 3 x 7, 4 x 3 =3 x 4) Even if we change the order of the factors, they still will equal the same product.
- Finding the unknown number in multiplication equations ( this helps introduce division)
- Introducing division and solve word problems using multiplication and division equations.
September 26th- September 30th
-Continue with Multiplication
- We are also working with multiples of 10.
Example: 6 x 30-----However, we don’t look at it as a multiplication problem. We are using base ten blocks. This representation would look like 6 groups of 3 tens.
-Introduce Arrays and dive deeper into word problems in multiplication
- Students need to be memorizing facts 2-5
September 19th- 23rd
- We started math centers this week. We did a great job today. I will be teaching multiplication each day and students will participate in activities related to the skills I teach. In my small group this week I will still be reviewing perimeter.
September 12th- September 16th
* We will practice using perimeter by measuring the side, adding all the sides, and finding the missing number in perimeter.
*We will also continue adding and subtracting a little each day, so we constantly are reviewing this skill.
*I have attached four videos that will help parents and students with Perimeter.
*I will be teaching these concepts in the order I have posted the videos.
-Lesson 12
-Lesson 13
-Lesson 14
-Lesson 15
September 5th- September 9th
* We will continue to add and subtract using word problems, but we will also continue working with perimeter.
August 29th- September 2nd
* Students will still continue to use rounding and addition/subtraction during math
*We will introduce and work with perimeter this week also. Students will learn how to find the perimeter. We will also know the perimeter of a shape, but there will be a missing number. We will use strategies to find this missing number. I have attached a video to help children also.
* Also, be sure to go over the properties of addition with your child. These will help a lot with multiplication also! This video above is great!
August 22nd-26th
- We will continue to review rounding and use rounding in a word problem. Look for key words ABOUT HOW MANY and WHAT IS THE BEST ESTIMATE.
- We will work with addition and subtraction this week also. We will dive into some more word problems dealing with addition and subtraction also.
April 17th- 21st

- Students should focus on learning multiplication facts for 1, 2, 5 &10 during the first nine weeks.
- We will be focusing understanding multiplication and learning through strategies versus memorization.
- Students need to work on their multiplication skills at home as well.
- We will be doing speed tests for multiplication in class. These tests are for helping develop fluency, but will not go in the grade book.
